Senator George McGovern

This past week, I had the pleasure to interview Senator George McGovern on two separate occasions! First, we taped a live, 30 minute interview broadcasted on 88.5FM WFCF Flagler College Radio. We covered topics including the Sentator's honorable career as a WWII B-24 Aviator, which resulted in him being awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (the highest honor bestowed on a pilot in wartime). We also covered topics including his illustrious career as a US Representative, US Senator and of course the Democratic Nominee for President of the US in 1972.

A few days later, I interviewed Senator McGovern again for our web cast on staugustine.com. This time, we focused on the Senator's long list of accomplishments battling world hunger. We started with his award in 1961 by President Kennedy, his assignment in 2001 by President Clinton, and his on-going friendship/work with Senator Bob Dole to combat world hunger.
It is truly an honor to have met, let alone get to know someone of such high ideals, accomplishment and compassion. My life will be forever changed by this experience.
