Another crazy Saturday morning! First, our pro light blew and I had no replacement, so had to use a normal 75w lightbulb, so this week's show might be a bit darker than usual.

Next, I couldn't get a picture on our wide-shot camera! And since there was little time to trouble-shoot, we went with a backup camera. Of course, that camera was set with power-saving mode turned on, so you will see a couple spots in the show where I had to go turn it back on again.

Then, right before we went LIVE, I reached up to adjust my eye glasses and the arm fell off in my hand!

Ever had one of those days...lol

I think the show went well, for the most part and the Guests were great! It is always an adventure on Airborne!

Another great show! Thanks to all of our guests this week for a very interesting and entertaining time! there were no major glitches this week. We did have the battery die on one of our cameras, but luckily Matt had brought in his personal mini-cam so we were able to switch to that camera with no disruption of the show. And no big BOOMS this week! lol

This was also our first week using three cameras and I think it brings a new feel to the show, giving our viewers a better feel for what is happening in the studio. A special thanks to Josh Wallace from Flagler College for his excellent camera work! We are getting better every week.

And a note to everyone that Matt and crew are taking Saturday, Nov. 28th off for Thanksgiving, but we will be back with a brand new show on December 5th!

Happy Thanksgiving everybody!!!

Latest Show - November 14

Well, more technical problems again this week! Unfortunately, we were not able to get the LIVE webcast running until halfway through the show, dropping our first guest, Kiki Tovey with Veddy Theatre, completely. My sincere apology to Kiki for this! Not to worry, though. Matt has scheduled a return appearance for Kiki and her actors for the next show, November 21st!

At 25:45 of the show, you will notice that we lost sound. This was due to a tranformer exploding down the street from the studio! It was actually loud enough to shake the building! WFOY actually went off the air for about 35 seconds! Our webcast video, however, was not affected.

It's always an adventure on Airborne!

Ray Quin - Chair of SJC Veterans Council
Bill Dudley - Reg. Pres. of the Navy League

Well, the show went off without a hitch...for a change. lol

We finally have the multiple camera system working correctly. Our biggest worry now with this system is when we try to do a shot where the second camera is picked up and moved around. If the connection to the camera disconnects, even for a fraction of a second, the show is dropped completely and can't be retrieved.

We had no reason to move the second camera this week, so there was no problem. Next show however, we will be having a LIVE musical performance and will be doing different shots. Just gotta keep a thumb on that connection!

As usual, John Reardon did a GREAT job subbing for Matt while he was out. Like Matt, John seems to know absolutely everyone in St. Augustine and is known by everyone!

Thanks for a great job, John!

A New Airborne Blog Poster - ME!

Hello everyone. My name is Chris and I am the Producer of Airborne with Matt Jeffs. Matt has given me permission to post here and help him keep up his blog.

As you can see from the posts below, Matt has not gotten the chance to post for a long while. I am here to change that!

Bringing You Up to Date
A lot has happened with Airborne since Matt's last post. First, we now broadcast from WFOY, News Talk 1240 AM in St. Augustine and stream our video to staugustine.com/airborne right from the studio! This gives our viewers (you!) the chance to see Matt and his guests in a LIVE broadcast environment. There is no editing here! You can watch it LIVE as it's happening from 8am to 9am every Saturday Morning or go to our page on staugustine.com to view past shows from our archives, which is on the left side.

We bid a fond farewell to the 'Airborne Leather Couch'...lol

We are also now using two cameras! If you have seen Airborne in the past, then you know that it was shot with a single camera with one wide shot. We now have the ability to vary our shot choices, adding a new dynamic to the show.

In the next few weeks, we will be adding a third camera and will also have the ability to show 'B' footage. That is, we will be able to broadcast guest slideshows, power point presentations, pre-taped video footage, etc. I am extremely excited about this!

Senator George McGovern

This past week, I had the pleasure to interview Senator George McGovern on two separate occasions! First, we taped a live, 30 minute interview broadcasted on 88.5FM WFCF Flagler College Radio. We covered topics including the Sentator's honorable career as a WWII B-24 Aviator, which resulted in him being awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (the highest honor bestowed on a pilot in wartime). We also covered topics including his illustrious career as a US Representative, US Senator and of course the Democratic Nominee for President of the US in 1972.

A few days later, I interviewed Senator McGovern again for our web cast on staugustine.com. This time, we focused on the Senator's long list of accomplishments battling world hunger. We started with his award in 1961 by President Kennedy, his assignment in 2001 by President Clinton, and his on-going friendship/work with Senator Bob Dole to combat world hunger.
It is truly an honor to have met, let alone get to know someone of such high ideals, accomplishment and compassion. My life will be forever changed by this experience.

Jared's meets his heroes...

Last season, just before the end of the University of Florida vs. the University of Miami Football game, my son Jared and I were walking toward University Ave. when I noticed a tall, long-haired guy and a long, lean gangly guy walking ahead of us. Something in the way the long-haired one gathered up his hair to put it into a pony-tail caught my eye. I suddenly realized we were walking behind Joakim Noah and Corey Brewer. These champions were right along side of us.

I asked each of them if my son Jared could shake their hands. I explained that they are heroes of his and he want to be the next Lee Humphrey, Florida's 3-point master. When I explained that Jared takes between 300-500 3-pointers per day, Joakim jokingly told him: 'Better make that 1,000'. Corey told him to keep it up, but: 'You better make 300-400 of those 500 'J's'.

Both young men saw in Jared a dedicated kid who looks up to them. Both took the opportunity to say encouraging words to lift him up and help him strive. The next day, Jared banged out 850 practice 3-pointers before he'd had enough. He's tallied 63,000 since last July 4th. One day, he just might play for Billy Donovan. He certainly has the will.

Returning to Live Radio in March '09!!

Hey gang, I'll be returning to live radio during 'Drive Time' from 5 to 7 pm on Wednesdays on WFCF.

Best of all, I'll have a great co-host, Pam Youngquist. She's a dynamic leader in SJC who started and sustained the Natural Living Alliance.

Pam is an erudite, articulate individual who isn't afraid to have some fun while sharing her expertise.

We'll bring you relaxed, casual jazz and conversation. Join us for 'Airborne with Matt & Pam' on 88.5 FM WFCF, Flagler College Radio...'Radio with a Reason' on Wednesdays beginning March 4th!

Jessica Minch - Miss Florida US

Jessica is not just another pretty face. She is cultured in the arts, as evidenced by her long standing (and current) study of ballet. And her dedication to environmental preservation is a standard worthy of praise. We're hoping we see Jessica a lot more on staugustine.com. I hope we get to hear more from her on 88.5FM WFCF. She's a breath of fresh air!

Old City Farmers Market

The OCFM is one of my family's favorite places to visit. Every Saturday morning we get fresh, local produce, breads, etc. while enjoying the company of some of the nicest people in the county

Its great to get to know the people who grow, bake and prepare your food on a first name basis. Carey and Brian are doing a great job taking over the market from Lynn. They have expanded the offerings and brought an art-festival feel to the whole experience, too.

Lastly, the free entertainment by all the folks who show up each weekend can't be beat. If you enjoy roots, old-time and americana music, you owe it to yourself to make this a place to shop for your groceries. No chain store can compare with this. Please post your comments below and tell me about your experience at the OCFM.
